Can you really make a difference for God?

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

Did God send you to save the world?  Me either.   So what are you and I suppose to do?

Jesus “commissioned” us to preach the “good news” to every creature.  Some have taken this to mean, talk to everyone, everywhere, anytime.  People have been “witnessed to” whether they want to listen or not.

Christians seem pushy and self righteous trying to “help” people find Jesus.  What did Jesus mean?  Far be it from me to speak for God or tell you the proper translation of our title verse but I must weigh in.

Jesus commissioned us to share the Gospel but instead of trying to figure out what He means with His words, why not look at what He did?

Jesus walked day by day, healing the sick, cleansing the lepers and making blind eyes see. (Oh yeah, He raised the dead too!)  If we as believers would imitate Christ the world would beg to learn more.

Have you ever been invited to a network marketing meeting?  The person inviting you has been trained to tell you just enough to get your curiosity up.  Don’t mention the name of the company…get them to the meeting.  Don’t try to explain it…get them to the meeting.

Sounds a little like trying to get people to church.  Some believers don’t know enough about Jesus to tell others about Him, so they invite them to church.  They are “afraid” they might mess it up so instead of saying the “wrong” thing…they say nothing.  What is the answer?

In my humble opinion, the church needs to work on its personal relationship with Jesus before they brow beat others about their lifestyle, choices or sin.

Jesus lead by example. The church must also lead.  But here are the facts, the divorce rate, bankruptcy and sickness in the church is very similar to that outside of the church.  Why would anyone “looking in” choose to join the church?

The only reason, as you know, is Jesus.  He is the real and only true God.  Through faith in His name, blind eyes are opened, deaf ears hear again and the dead become alive.  Easy right?  Should be, but in all honesty, most of us are still on the sidelines wondering how to get in the game.

Here is what we believe is our first step, believe the word of God. Notice I did not say believe what I think or any one else thinks…no, I said, get to know the word of God.

Here is the part that will mess with your head, Jesus is the word of God.  The closer you get to Jesus, the closer you get to the Truth (which is also Jesus)

Until next time, remember: You overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony, and by becoming a living sacrifice. Revelation 12:11
