Present Your Bodies as a Living Sacrifice
Roman 12:1,2 1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Having just finished teaching on the above verse at a Men’s Conference this weekend I had that scripture fresh on my mind. So when I looked at the calendar to plan for this week, I was reminded we are less than one week from the 8th anniversary of 9/11. Can you believe, I can still remember where I was and what I was doing on that day.
What made those terrorist so dangerous? Was it the plan or the planes full of jet fuel? Was it their hatred for our way of life? I think these were factors but their real power came from the fact that they were “dead men walking”. These men trained to die. They proved how powerful that can be in the natural world. In Romans 12:1,2 Paul is “beseeching” us to present ourselves to God.
Paul knew the power he had, and the power available to anyone who would become a living sacrifice. Remember God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourself by the mercies of God and present yourselves a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God. Combine this verse, with our anchor verse Revelation 12:11 and you will have power to defeat the enemy.
